Christoph Seelinger completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Braunschweig with a thesis on indexical death scenes in iconic-symbolic orders of cinema. He is currently a research assistant in the Department of German Studies at the Technical University of Braunschweig, and his habilitation thesis deals with the continuation of avant-garde poetics in B-movies from the 1960s to the 1980s using the example of the connection between French surrealism and Italian horror cinema. His research interests include: film and literature, Gothic Romanticism around 1800, border crossings in audiovisual media, exploitation and experimental film, genre and canon, the classical avant-gardes (especially surrealism). In addition, he is also involved in audio commentaries and booklet texts for DVD and Blu-Ray releases, numerous articles in film magazines and film curatorial activities.
