Charlotte Praetorius

Charlotte Praetorius is a film scholar and research assistant at the Institute for Media, Theatre and Popular Culture at the University of Hildesheim Foundation, where she has been teaching film and moving image since 2020. After studying Theatre, Film and Media Studies and Romance Languages and Literature in Frankfurt am Main and Lisbon, she worked for various film festivals before writing her doctoral thesis on the appropriation, use and staging of found photographic material in contemporary essay and documentary film. Her dissertation was published by Büchner Verlag in 2022 and was awarded the Prize for Young Scholars. Research interests: intermedia constellations, amateur film history, media nostalgia, feminist perspectives on early cinema.
